Wildflower Walk—May 2025
Our wildflower walk at Breese Park in West Henrietta on May 2 was just perfect—no rain, and the wildflowers really delivered. We saw trilliums: red trillium, the white form of red trillium, some pinkish versions of red trillium (all Trillium erectum), and white trillium (Trillium grandiflorum). Also May apples, violets (purple and yellow), white and yellow trout lilies, spring beauties, Dutchmen’s breeches, Jack-in-the-pulpit, cutleaf toothwort, probably more. And fields of blue Mertensia! Several people said that “it was magical!”
Thank you to Judy Hubbard, Gail Shoemaker, and other wildflower enthusiasts who helped attendees with plant identification.
Enjoy these photos from the event. (If you attended and have some photos to share, send them to flowercitygardennetwork.com. Preferred format is .jpg.)

Original announcement
Spring Wildflower Walk, Breese Park in West Henrietta, Friday May 2, 10:30am
FCGN’s next event will be a guided wildflower walk at one of our favorite spring flower sites, Breese Park in West Henrietta. We have seen a wide variety of spring wildflowers on previous visits to the park. It’s particularly exceptional for its fields of bluebells, and we are timing the walk to hopefully coincide with the bluebells and other wildflowers. Our usual guides, Carol and David Southby, will be away then (!), but we will have several of us along who have done the walk before, as well as David’s list of spring flowers seen here on previous hikes.
Members only. Limit 30 attendees. Registration required.
Registration is already full as of April 2. To get on our waiting list, email us at flowercitygardennetwork@gmail.com.
