Webster Gardens—May 2025

Matt Szostak’s gardens in Webster, NY—visited by FCGN on May 27, 2025—did not disappoint! The garden is extensive and beautiful, with many ways to wander, filled with charming spring bloomers and lots of interesting foliage and trees and shrubs. The Amsonias were in full bloom, and their blue made an especially striking impression. More than that, Matt is a real plantsman, graciously sharing his knowledge with all. The garden has a wealth of unusual plants, many of them new to us, used in their perfect placement; several of us asked “what is that white double-flowering ground cover in the back?” The answer: Arabis alpina subsp. caucasica “Flore Pleno.”
