The Krals’ Incomparable Garden—July 2025
On Thursday, July 17, FCGN had the privilege of visiting the garden of Jerry and Karen Kral. Their garden is like no other – it seems big enough to get lost in, with many winding paths and varied highlights. In fact, three people told me they did get lost! It is full of special plants in lovely combinations, grown to perfection. It is an education in horticulture and garden design and we could never see enough of it. A memorable evening was had by all.

Original announcement
FCGN’s next visit will be to the superb Brighton gardens of Jerry and Karen Kral on Thursday, July 17, 6:30-8 pm. We hardly need to describe them, as this must be the most-visited garden in our area. But it seems to only get better and better. From a description provided by Jerry a couple of years ago, the garden is over thirty years in the making, has over a half mile of pathways through almost an acre of gardens, and over 700 taxa of plants. But that hardly tells the story of the artistry of the design and plant combinations. Jerry has sourced the best and most beautiful plants, some of them very rare, and highlighted the landscape with water features, cozy seating areas, unique rock gardens, and stylish and whimsical statuary. (Check out photos from last year’s visit at A Plantsman’s Brighton Garden—July 2024.)
NOTE: The event starts at 6:30pm. Try not to arrive before 6:30, so that the owners and our volunteers will have time to get ready for you.
