Dahlias to Delight in North Chili—September 2025
FCGN’s visit to Carol & Dale DeCann’s North Chili garden on September 10 was the perfect way to spend a perfect evening. Their yard is charming – at the end of a quiet cull-de-sac, with lovely landscaping sloping down to a forever wild area and a community pond. But the highlight is Carol’s extensive collection of dahlias. Dahlias in all colors and forms, grown for competition. They were pretty mesmerizing in their perfection, and Carol was very generous in sharing her expertise. Several people said that they loved the visit because not only did they spend the evening in a beautiful garden, but they learned a lot, too. Thank you, Carol and Dale!

Original announcement
FCGN has one more garden to visit for the 2025 season, on Wednesday, September 10, 6-7:30 pm, at the North Chili home of Carol & Dale DeCann. This property is very pretty, with a large lawn sloping down to a community pond in the back, a wooded area, and flowering beds surrounding the property and the house. But Carol’s true love is clearly dahlias. President of the Rochester Dahlia Society, she grows prize-winning blooms in several areas of the property, including a large fenced bed devoted to cultivating exhibition-worthy flowers. There are about 125 different cultivars in all colors, types and sizes.
